Little Snake Blank

Description

The LIttle Snake is a fantastic Whittling Project for kids and for people learning the knife skills. Such a delight to carve!

Measuring about 160mm long, the Little Snake blank is cut out from a piece of English Lime or Basswood, making it relatively easy to carve.

The winding body creates opportunities to learn to use various knife techniques to deal with the changing grain direction. The taper over the length of the body also needs to be created, from the wide head to the small point of the tail. Shaping the head creates new challenges, in the creation of the eyes, the mouth, and the head position. Such a great little project!

To carve the Little Snake, all you need is a Sloyd knife like the BeaverCraft C13, the Phurba R13 or R15, The Mora 120 or 106, or our Bush Whittler. These can all be found on our shop.

Once you have carved your snake, why not give it authentic paint job!
